Your Moving Plan, Explained
Understanding Your Estimate
A clear estimate should help you feel ready for your move. Here is how to review your moving plan, understand the wording, sign your documents and make your deposit. If anything feels unclear, ask us before you sign—we are here to walk through it with you.
Start With the Details
Make Sure the Plan Matches Your Move
Your Locations and Date
Check your name, contact information, requested moving date and every pickup and delivery address. Include apartment numbers, extra stops, stairs, elevators, parking and long walks to the truck.
Your Belongings and Services
Review the furniture, boxes and large or delicate items listed. Check whether your plan includes packing, unpacking, loading, unloading, materials or other requested help.
Your Crew and Charges
Check the crew size, truck or labor-only service, hourly rate or quoted price, estimated time, travel and preparation, materials and any separately listed charges. Confirm any eligible discount appears correctly.
If something is missing or has changed, contact your moving specialist for a revised estimate before signing. An estimate request alone does not reserve a moving date.
Plain-Language Answers
What the Wording Means
| Term | What to Look For |
|---|---|
| Estimate | The planned work and expected charges based on the information you provide. Read whether your document describes an hourly estimate, a binding price or another pricing arrangement. Ask us to explain how the final amount is determined. |
| Inventory | The belongings included in the plan. Missing furniture, boxes or specialty items can affect time, crew size and the estimate. |
| Hourly Rate and Minimum | For local hourly service, the rate applies to the agreed crew and service. There is a three-hour minimum, followed by 30-minute billing increments. Estimated hours help plan the move; actual billable time determines the hourly charge. |
| Travel and Preparation | A separate charge for the move's travel and preparation. Travel between moving stops is also part of hourly moving time. Confirm the fee shown for your locations and number of trucks. |
| Materials and Additional Services | Supplies and requested extra services listed separately in your estimate. Review the items, quantities and charges with your specialist. |
| Valuation or Coverage | The level of responsibility for covered loss or damage under your moving agreement. Basic / Released Value limits reimbursement to $0.60 per pound per item when selected in writing. Full Value Protection is a different option with its own charge and terms. Read the coverage addendum and ask questions before choosing and signing. |
| Deposit | The payment used to secure your moving date. It is credited toward your final bill. Check the amount and cancellation or rescheduling terms in your documents before paying. |
| Balance Due | The amount remaining after your deposit, approved discounts and any other payments are applied. Payment is due at completion; we accept cash and credit cards. |

Making Your Deposit
- Confirm the deposit amount. Use the amount requested in your estimate or booking documents.
- Follow the payment instructions provided for your move. Use the payment link or customer portal supplied by A to Z. If you cannot find the deposit payment option, call us. See the portal walkthrough.
- Review the amount before submitting payment. Complete the payment securely using the instructions on that screen.
- Check for a receipt and booking confirmation. Keep them with your signed documents. If payment appears pending or you do not receive confirmation, contact us before trying to pay again.
Your deposit is credited toward your final bill. For local moves, at least 72 hours' notice before scheduled arrival qualifies for a full deposit refund on cancellation or free rescheduling. With less than 72 hours' notice, cancellation or rescheduling forfeits the deposit. Out-of-state moves have separate booking terms; review your agreement before paying.
